I stepped on a tennis ball while playin and it hurt extremely bad but after a day it still hurts a little to turn my fight and walk but its still managable and it doesn't really look like it swelled at all... should I still try to treat it or leave it to heal on its own?

is this taping technique used for the prevention of lateral inversion ankle sprains? if not, what is its purpose?

RICE, Rest. ice, compress, and elevate the ankle, and see a doctor, since its been weeks, I could be wrong but might probably a tear of a ligament, on the medial or lateral if you foot inward or outward

If you attach the tape to itself, there is no room for expansion and swelling could get trapped above or below the taping. If you leave a little gap, the soft tissues can expand and the tape won't constrict
